O is for...Opinions

Everyone has an opinion. Isn't it funny how two people may watch the same show or read the same book and have way opposite opinions on the same thing? Some people are very opinionated while others keep their opinions to themselves. Which are you? I find that I am very opinionated but I pick and choose if, how and when to express them. I believe that there are times when it is good to state yours but other times it may be good just to shut up. Sometimes I read people's comments on articles and think, did they really have to say that?

Many people get blasted out of the water for having opinions or views that are very different than the majority. Take for instance the controversy surrounding Kirk Cameron and his views on homosexuality. He got hit pretty hard just for stating, not even in a mean way, how he lives his life and how he views that subject. He was very respectful but went against the grain so to speak. He got a lot of hate. I think respect goes a long way in how others are treated when they may have a different opinion than yours. It kind of makes you nervous about saying how you feel now days.

How do you deal with other people's opinions? Do you feel that two people can be civilized even when their opinions are different? I think a "healthy" debate is good...with respect, of course! Love goes a long way!

How's that for going deep today? LOL Yay, I think I am all caught up today, too! Have a great day!!

I think voicing your opinions WITH respect will get you far more ears for your own opinion that spewing hatred, which is what happens way too many times. Too often minds are closed, or even superglued shut. Listen. Respect. We'd all along better!

  2. Hi Kim! I love hearing a variety of opinions on a subject. It makes me evaluate my own thoughts. Sometimes I end up learning something new or even taking a new stance on the subject. ~ Angela, Whole Foods Living, http://www.wholefoodsliving.blogspot.com/

  3. Hello, Kim! It depends who I'm with. I'm comfortable sharing my opinions and discussing everything under the sun with my parents and sister and husband because I know things will remain civil and no one takes anything personally. But there are some people I know who get super defensive about everything, especially if you don't agree with them, so I know to keep my mouth shut around them! Besides, it's so much more fun listening to others' arguing their opinions and keeping out of it. It can be highly amusing! Plus, I may learn something new.

Have a lovely week and happy A to Z!!
